COVID has taken many things from a lot of different people and I have not been immune to this. First, I lost my job and with so many being in the same position, I was unable to find another one and recover financially. Second, was my home. I was left homeless and needed to rely on the support of the council for temporary housing, where I am currently staying.
Thankfully, I’ve been connected to Beam who have helped me start to plan for the future. More than anything, I want to give back and help out others during this time. The best way I can think of is to support the NHS in any way possible. I am going to work as a support worker while also assisting with some of the COVID vaccinations. Although I've not been immune to some of the negative fallout of "the virus", I want to help others combat it by assisting with the vaccinations.
Anyone who is reading this and is in a similar situation to myself, please ask for help and most of all do not give up. When an opportunity comes up, go for it! It could be the opportunity that changes your life.
