Emma's campaign has fully funded! 🎉 A Beam employee is now supporting her on her journey through training and into work as a beautician.
But other Beam members need your help. Support the greatest number of homeless people to train up and get into work by giving monthly.
I've finished and passed my second module - facials and skincare. So now I am half way! You can see a couple of pictures above - they're not very bright because the room has to be that way for relaxation purposes.
I've now started the third module which is all of the eye care.
I feel like I've gained a lot of knowledge so far and also practical experience. I'm very grateful for the course and would like to say thank you to you all!
I wanted to share with you some pictures. One is from my exam that I sat in beauty school for the unit in manicure and pedicure. 💅
And the other ones are from my volunteering work at the day centre for homeless people. I gave some of the visitors hand massages & different nail polish. It was a very good experience. Some people shared their story with me and I was thanking God that I was able to give them some encouragement. 💕
Thanks for your support!
I want to let you know that I am progressing well at beauty school. I've just picked up my laptop from Beam. It's going to be really useful to record and watch videos of all the different therapies we're learning about. This way I can practice at home. 💻
I'm already planning to do some manicures for women who come to the homeless day centre. As I'm receiving good things I want to pass it on - when you treat somebody then they can forget for a while their situation. I can remember how they feel, so it's nice to offer some encouragement!
I'm also looking for a job in the sector that I can complete along with my training.
Thank you so much for your support - every one of you is amazing to me and the words you send in are fantastic!! 🌟
With over half of my funds raised, Beam was able to book my course. I was so excited to start and to get to know how they teach and learn new skills. I had already been watching some beauty videos online to get ready and make sure I know all the words they're going to use. My first day was yesterday and I really enjoyed it!
I just want to say thank you to all of my donators - for helping me to get to somewhere I've been dreaming of. Some of my messages have been so heartwarming. I've been saving some of them to keep looking at as I go. They remind me of how far I have come.
Thank you so much to Beam & your donators. I am reading all these messages & I'm so happy to receive this kind of encouragement, it is amazing. Please pass my message on to all of them - how I'm thankful! 💖
I am really excited to put my profile up and to get started on my course. I know that I am going to add new skills on top of my experience and interests. You get better at these things by practicing a lot!
And at the same time it will be good to meet new people. I think that I can learn a lot from others.
Thanks for your support!

Too often homeless people are forced to lie out of sheer desperation. We think it's better when relationships are built on trust and honesty. Beam verifies each member in 4 ways:
1. Referral: every member of Beam is referred by a registered homelessness charity or local authority.
2. Interviews: before their campaign launches, each member is interviewed twice by a Beam Member Manager.
3. References: we take references on each member from the charity who refers them and someone in a position of responsibility.
4. Profile: we take great care to verify information in a member's story is true.
It's your money.
We work hard to ensure that you can give confidently.
A caseworker or "Member Manager" is an employee of Beam who helps those referred to Beam to plan a crowdfunding campaign and supports them through training and into work.
All Member Managers are trained professionals who specialise in supporting vulnerable adults by focusing on their strengths and abilities.
