I've always kept my passion for work. Employment is part of a decent life for everyone I think. However, things held me back in the past. I got involved with a bad crowd when I was younger. This led me into trouble. I drifted from family and friends. After some time sofa-surfing, I was given a room in a hostel. I started to turn things around. I got involved in volunteering and built up my skills. But I think the environment at the hostel was a barrier to finding a steady job.
Thank God I've come through the other side. I have just moved into a flat and this is a big relief. I'm ready to focus on work. A tenant in my old hostel mentioned Beam to me and said they were very helpful. I really appreciated that. I'm hoping that they can also beam me up in my situation!
Construction is an industry I've always been keen to work in. Engineering was an aspiration of mine when I was younger - so it's a step into that world. I like working outdoors and doing something physical. There's the chance to move to new areas and learn new skills.
Over the next few years I want to take advantage of every opportunity. And as well as being in work, I hope to have started a family and a home. Above all, I want to be appreciative of everything I have achieved and the positive changes in my life.
