Beam supports homeless people through training and into rewarding work.
Each person has been referred to Beam by a homelessness organisation.
You fund their training. And we support them into work.
The thing that makes me happiest in life are my kids. I want to be a plumber so that I can provide for my family and give them the best future possible. A stable life is the most important thing to me at the moment and since I’ve always been great with my hands I think a career in plumbing is my calling!
I found myself not doing very well over the last couple of years. Lots of different things led to me having to go through a rehabilitation programme. Receiving the right support made me realise that I wanted to change my situation and do better for everyone in my life. And then, I heard about Beam.
Earning my own money once I'm in work means that I will be able to rent a place of my own and give back to those who have helped me on my journey when things weren't going well. Plus, I left school at 15 so I've always liked the idea of going back into education and learning new things. I'm excited to get into that classroom and show my kids I can make them proud!
When I have finished my training and found work, I hope I can live a 'normal' life, something that hasn't always been the case for me. This second chance means that I can put the past right and use my skills to help others. Working with Beam is a fresh start for me and I couldn't be more excited.Show More

Too often homeless people are forced to lie out of sheer desperation. We think it's better when relationships are built on trust and honesty. Beam verifies each member in 4 ways:
1. Referral: every member of Beam is referred by a registered homelessness charity or local authority.
2. Interviews: before their campaign launches, each member is interviewed twice by a Beam Member Manager.
3. References: we take references on each member from the charity who refers them and someone in a position of responsibility.
4. Profile: we take great care to verify information in a member's story is true.
It's your money.
We work hard to ensure that you can give confidently.
A caseworker or "Member Manager" is an employee of Beam who helps those referred to Beam to plan a crowdfunding campaign and supports them through training and into work.
All Member Managers are trained professionals who specialise in supporting vulnerable adults by focusing on their strengths and abilities.
