I still find it amazing to consider how unseen energy is all around us, just waiting to be tapped! Whilst studying this never stopped fascinating me. Electrician training really just involves learning how you can easily and safely tap into energy sources. In my spare time, I read science magazines looking at how this operates beyond the simpler household tasks I’ve been trained with. Hydroelectric power is probably the one I find most impressive! I’d love to see it in person one day.
Discovering a passion has made the last year or so easier. Before this, I’d been homeless for nearly a decade. After being kicked out by a family member, I struggled to find my feet. Depression and stress really got to me. I stopped eating properly and couldn’t think straight, let alone work.
Finally, I got into a homeless hostel where I still live now. I started studying but couldn’t get a government loan. Despite this, the college allowed me to finish most of the course. Sadly, without the funds I can’t complete the last module and gain the qualification I need to become a professional electrician.
This Christmas, I have no plans and will likely spend it alone in my hostel. By next year, I want to be in work, in my own place and - with a bit of luck - on holiday for the first time. But first, I need your help getting there!
