William's campaign has fully funded! 🎉 A Beam employee is now supporting him on his journey through training and into work as a handyman.
But other Beam members need your help. Support the greatest number of homeless people to train up and get into work by giving monthly.
Lots of exciting news from me! 💥
Firstly, I completed and passed my course! I found the last module really rough if I'm being honest so was surprised and delighted to discover I got through it. I'm now continuing to work part-time with the NHS 2 days a week. I'm enjoying the painting side of things and getting really good feedback on this so far 🖌️
I've also - after months of persevering - managed to move into permanent social housing. It's my own flat and I feel so pleased as I begin to turn it from a shell into my own home 🏠
I need to go into hospital for a short operation, after which I plan to start working full-time and moving on with the rest of my life.
An absolutely massive thank you to all those who supported me. It's genuinely given me the confidence and belief to take all these steps in my life over the last year. I can't believe how much it's changed.
So sorry for taking so long to give you an update - I have been so rushed off my feet since you all so kindly supported my campaign! 🏃
Firstly, I passed my plumbing and tiling course. 😁
I am still doing my carpentry course. I am finding this one more challenging but when I pass that course I will receive my Diploma. I am also doing some painting and decorating for the NHS and volunteering alongside a handyman to help me to gain experience.
Thank you so much for your help!
I have a new role volunteering for the NHS maintenance department 🎉
I will be working alongside plumbers, carpenters, electricians and handymen. This is a great opportunity for me to gain experience within my chosen career path. I had a great interview with the manager so all is moving in the right direction.

Too often homeless people are forced to lie out of sheer desperation. We think it's better when relationships are built on trust and honesty. Beam verifies each member in 4 ways:
1. Referral: every member of Beam is referred by a registered homelessness charity or local authority.
2. Interviews: before their campaign launches, each member is interviewed twice by a Beam Member Manager.
3. References: we take references on each member from the charity who refers them and someone in a position of responsibility.
4. Profile: we take great care to verify information in a member's story is true.
It's your money.
We work hard to ensure that you can give confidently.
A caseworker or "Member Manager" is an employee of Beam who helps those referred to Beam to plan a crowdfunding campaign and supports them through training and into work.
All Member Managers are trained professionals who specialise in supporting vulnerable adults by focusing on their strengths and abilities.
