I moved to the UK from Afghanistan four years ago to build a better life for myself. It was tough trying to make a living at home as there weren't many opportunities for me. When I moved to the UK I was really happy because I could finally be with my brother, and I knew that the UK would give me that chance to follow my dreams. However, it has been tough ever since arriving here as I found it difficult to find a job, especially during the pandemic. I couldn't do roles in construction without my CSCS card, which I just couldn't afford. This left me feeling deflated, but I am really motivated to turn things around and follow my passion for construction.
Construction is something I really enjoy doing, I think there is so much to learn and lot's of skills to gain. I have always liked expanding my knowledge and sharing that knowledge with others around me. One day I hope to start my own my construction business and work for myself to create a stable future.
My dream for the future would be to move into my own flat, as well as getting a drivers licence and a stable job so that I can support myself and eventually give back to the community.
