Since coming to the UK from Pakistan, I have dreamt of being an accountant and to be able to use my skills and experience to be in full-time work and find a home for my wife and I.
I am currently studying to complete my accounting (ACCA) conversion exams and in a few years would love to achieve the full qualification, find a good job in accounting and regain my confidence and independence, which I have lost over the last year. For now, I am looking for a role to build my experience in the UK having worked as a finance manager and internal audit manager for a number of years in Pakistan.
I moved to the UK one and a half years ago and after a year of waiting I received my status to remain in the UK. This meant I had to leave where I was staying to find a job and new accommodation with nothing to fall back on. I have been volunteering at two charities for the last year whilst I have been waiting to be able to work. One of my colleagues at the charity has kindly been supporting my wife and I to let us stay with them. I am determined to gain employment soon to get my independence back.
