In the long term I'd love to get into property development. It's something that I've been interested in for a long time. I'm really creative so I like the idea of improving the design of things and adding value where I can. At the moment though, I'm focusing on finding something that helps me and my son feel financially secure again.
I became homeless when I needed somewhere for me and my son to live. We were supported by the council with temporary accommodation for a while and then eventually we moved out into a privately rented place. Renting has been difficult due to money being tight but one benefit has been that I'm now living closer to my family. Getting into work will mean that I will no longer be benefit capped and I'll have some extra money coming in. This will be very welcome!
In the past I've done a variety of roles from hospitality to support work. My son is the most important person in my life so finding something that fits for both of us is important. Being a single parent can be tough at times but I love knowing that I'm setting a good example and that he'll know the value of having a stable job when he's older.
