I am a single mother, and was doing relatively well with a respectable job and house, until the end of 2022 when I was forced to leave my job due to my poor health condition. My eventual lack of income nearly led to me becoming homeless with my child, because I had no money to continue paying for housing. This combined with me being a part-time student became incredibly stressful. I tried to get a job but because I was studying, I was either rejected or faced with a choice between employment or education. I felt humiliated and that I'd lost my dignity, as I wasn't able to get out of this situation alone. I was feeling depressed, and at a low point in life.
After I was finally referred to Beam, I was overcome by emotion and anxiety. However, my caseworker Reuben promised to find me housing and help my situation. I couldn't believe it. A couple of days later he found me accommodation and made the payment. I thank God for his help, for Beam, and for the people who were able to make this possible. Their positive attitude towards the situation made a difference between rising and falling and helped me to feel like a human being again. I thank the entire Beam company and its supporters for what they provided me in this moment.
