I've liked numbers ever since I was small. Working in accountancy, I get to have fun with them every day. It’s so important for a business to know the numbers that tell them how much profit they're making. I really enjoy this task, being able to discover the exact numbers that determine if a business is doing well, or not.
When my contract ended at my last home, I couldn’t find another affordable place for my daughter and I to live in. London is such an expensive place to be a single parent. I looked at so many different flats, but none of them worked out, so in the end I went to Southwark Council to ask for support.
Thankfully, they were able to help us into temporary accommodation. We’ve been in a couple of different places over the past few years, and it’s provided a roof over our heads which has been great. Now I just want to have a stable and normal life, rather than one in which we're constantly changing. It’s been hard not being able to provide a permanent place for my daughter. Her happiness is so important to me.
I’m working with Beam to get a place of my own where we can live normally. I’m planning to continue improving in my career as well, which is why I'm starting an accountancy qualification. I have over 17 years’ experience in accountancy and finance outside the UK, but I need to get a formal qualification here to advance in my career. My aim is to keep growing in this job so I can become someone really useful to the company I work for. Together, improving in my job and having a permanent place to live will give my life the stability it needs.
