I take pride in everything I do and being a mum of 2, I have no choice but to be super organised. Life can get messy sometimes and so helping others to keep things in order also brings me joy. I love the idea of using these skills to help with the collective Covid-19 effort as the only way out of this is to work together.
Last year, I had to leave my family home due to a break down in relationship. I was pregnant at the time and desperate to find somewhere to live so we took the first place we found. It was the one bed flat that my two children and I are living in today. Despite getting a little crowded now, we’re happy to have a roof over our heads. At the beginning of February though, we were served an eviction notice due to the landlord wanting to sell up. I’m getting help from the council to find somewhere new but for that to be affordable, I need to make sure I'm in work.
Being at risk of homelessness isn't what people stereotypically might think. I never thought I'd be in this situation but I'm really grateful for the help I'm getting. Before lockdown, I was volunteering in the community to help people who don't have computer skills and need support writing letters to lawyers and other bodies. I can't wait to use these skills in more of a professional capacity and I'm ready to put my all into this new project.
