I came to the UK after the evacuation of Kabul this summer with my wife and two daughters. My family and I have had some really dark times in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime and we have all experienced some horrible things. We have seen people killed and homes destroyed, and our youngest daughter still gets nightmares from the things she has witnessed.
I am extremely grateful that we have been able to start a new life here in the UK, and get support from the government but I would like to find work now. I have had a long and varied career in Afghanistan a hotel manager, physiotherapist, caseworker and I have over 13 years experience providing security assistance to the British Army as a Guard Commander.
Britain feels like a second home to me already, and I appreciate everything that they UK has done for me, but I would like to stand on my own two feet and be independent. My plan is to get my SIA licences and become a full-time security officer here in London. My wife is pregnant so if I can be self-sufficient and focus on my family first, maybe one day I can make a long-term plan to help other people struggling who need help and support.
