Before Coronavirus I was living in my own flat and working as a night packer for a London station. The job wasn’t as stable as I’d like as it was a zero hour contract. This meant I was always trying to get more shifts in order to make ends meet but it was difficult. During lockdown I was placed on furlough but when my company’s contract ended in June, I was let go and had no way of keeping up my rent payments. It didn’t feel right staying somewhere I couldn’t afford so I started sofa surfing.
Since then I’ve felt quite stuck. I love the routine of working and want to get back into a job as soon as possible. This is why I’m really excited to do the forklift training. I have worked in warehouses before but not been able to progress as I didn’t have the license. I hope by doing this training I will be able to get a stable job and start thinking about my future.
I would love to get married and have my own house but one of my main goals is to be able to help others. I’m so grateful for the help I’ve received and hope I can do the same for someone else one day.
