My life and career were going well until I went through a family dispute earlier this year where I was evicted and subsequently became homeless. Since then I’ve been moved around temporary accommodation, unfortunately lost custody of my daughter and found it hard to settle.
The priority for me right now is work and financial security so I can support myself, my partner and my daughter when we are reunited. I know I need to find myself permanent employment so me and my partner can start looking to move out of temporary accommodation. My aim is to live with my daughter again after I am settled and financially secure.
As far as work goes, I’ve always worked in a maintenance capacity, recently completing a gateway course in Engineering. I’ve never been attracted to office or retail work as I’m a practical person who loves DIY, and upcycling. For the future, I would like to invest in tools so I can start doing private work again to supplement my income and because I believe that vulnerable people may prefer and be more comfortable to have a female tradesperson doing work in their home.
Within 2 years time I would aim to be reunited with my daughter have security with housing, finances and employment and would also love to have the financial stability to enjoy hobbies and trips, and sport with my family.
