I came to the UK from Afghanistan two years ago with my wife and three children. Back home I worked as a finance assistant and was also a shop owner, but I need to have a good job here and work my way up again.
Things are better now but I still worry about things financially. My priority first and foremost is to be with my family, to work hard so we can have our own house - I don’t want to worry about the rent or anything like that, and my dream would be to own my own business. Right now I’m not able to do that, so I need a good job and a good budget for investing for my future.
I want to be a taxi driver because I like to meet people. I learn a lot from just chatting to others and hearing their stories. As I am new in this country, these conversations allow me to learn more and I get a lot from them. Aside from that, I just really like to drive, especially because it's quite easy to do in the area I live in now. The flexibility of being a taxi driver would allow me to spend time with my family as well. I don’t really like office work - I need to be free!
I need support and guidance right now, and having a caseworker who can show me the way to my goal is really helpful.
