Spending time with my son and showing him the world is something that I really enjoy. In a few years I hope that my life will be a bit less stressful and my work situation will be more stable than it currently is so that we can continue doing this together.
I first became homeless a few years ago when I was living with my in-laws. A relationship breakdown meant that my mother-in-law asked me to leave during my pregnancy. It happened all of a sudden and I didn't have anywhere to go. Homelessness is a stressful experience, especially as a pregnant woman, and then with a young child. At the end you learn from it and become a stronger person. I'm very lucky to have the support of family and friends. They're incredibly supportive and that really helps things.
Before the pandemic I was training and working as a dental nurse. Everything changed when lockdown came into effect. I had to put all of that on hold. Not being able to work has added to my stress, so I'm really looking forward to getting back to work and earning again. A silver lining is that new opportunities, like this one, have presented themselves. I've always had an interest in and wanted to work in a pharmacy so I'm excited to learn about medicinal groups and understanding the administration of medicines. I believe my dental nurse training and experience will help in this new role.
My main motivation is my son. I want to be able to provide for him. I also want to be independent again and start something new. I'm really excited about how this opportunity may change things for me.
