In the future I'd love to be the type of person that says yes to things. It's hard to do that when you're out of work and relying on friends for help. I hope that my journey with Beam will get me a little closer to my goal.
I would describe my past as being chequered. I've done lots of different jobs which have given me such a range of experiences. For a little while, I worked as a live in carer which meant that when the job came to an end, I didn't have a place to live anymore. It was a struggle to find somewhere else to live and when I did, I couldn't keep up with rent payments as my job search wasn't going well. Eventually I had to start staying with friends and seek help from the council.
I have wanted to train as a lorry driver for a while now. I've already started the process so Beam is going to support me to finish it. I'm a very patient person so I know I'll be able to handle the pressures of the job well. I'm also super reliable - they can call me up at anytime and I'll be there! As the training can take a few months, I'll be looking for temporary work in the meantime. I've done roles ranging from barbering to construction work so I'm pretty open to anything that will help improve my financial situation at the moment.
