COVID has taken a lot of things away from people in the world. I was not immune to this as it cost me my job. However, one thing it has given me is a clear perspective of what is important. Losing a job is never easy, however, it opened my eyes to how many good people there are in the world who want to help.
I am a very positive person and believe we all have a purpose in this world. I have never stopped smiling especially when I became a father for the first time a few years ago. I now have three bundles of joy. Along with my wife, they are the main reason I want to make the most of this opportunity to learn a new skill, grow as a person and provide my family with the life they deserve.
Since I've been out of work our housing situation has become extremely difficult. We're struggling with our rental payments, which means we are in danger of losing our home. As all of our money is going towards rent, we're relying on food banks to feed us at the moment which is not ideal when you have children. I want my children to grow up in a safe and stable environment which I am not able to guarantee right now.
I have always been passionate about working in construction. When I was in Nigeria I would help my uncle with various building projects. I loved being able to work with my hands and keep active. I want to take these great experiences into the professional world where I can build a life-long career.
