Hello, I'm Billy. I arrived in the UK from Afghanistan in September 2022, and have been living in temporary accommodation in London since then. I'm grateful to be in a safe country and I'm doing my best to stay positive. I keep myself busy by walking and talking to my family back home, and I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of my wife from Afghanistan. It's the thought of her being here that brings me the greatest happiness.
The biggest challenge I've faced was leaving my country and making the long journey to the UK on my own. But I'm a determined person and I'm ready to face the next challenge - finding stable work and a home. I've got experience as a shopkeeper from my home country and I've now got a similar role here. Now I just need to find a home.
Knowing that there are people out there who want to support me in achieving my goal makes me feel very happy and grateful. I'm excited to launch my Beam donations page and I'm looking forward to finding a home. I'm also hopeful that I can return to driving as I was a taxi driver back home and I really enjoyed talking to passengers. In two years' time, I hope to be driving again and living a stable life here in the UK with my wife.
