I've always been a bit of an office bod, but about five years ago, I found myself struggling with the office environment. I was going through a tough time and then, during the covid pandemic, I got the opportunity to go to college and take a course in gardening. This led me to start my own business, which has been a real boon for my mental health. However, I've found that the winter months can be quite challenging as a gardener, as work tends to dry up.
One of the biggest challenges I've faced is wanting to achieve more stability in my life. That's why I'm here at Beam. I'm looking to get an SIA license, which will allow me to find work during the winter months. This would make Christmas and New Year a lot less stressful, and give me access to all year-round work. It's not just about the money, it's about keeping active and maintaining my mental health during the darker months.
Knowing that there are people out there who want to support me in achieving my goal gives me a real sense of community spirit. It's something I've always admired in other countries and it's heartening to feel it here in the UK. So, thank you in advance for any support you can give. In two years, I hope to have a thriving gardening business and not have to rely on another job. I'm looking forward to having my own life and my own home. Your support will help me get there.
