My housing situation has been challenging because of the risk to my health and well-being with my family home as a queer non-binary-identified person. My dad died this year, one month before I had to move out of the place I was staying. Due to this loss and the amount of work required after his death, I had no capacity to look for a new place. I do not feel safe in my family home which has taken a big toll on my mental health. I'm hoping to find a stable job so I work towards getting a stable home to live in.
Long-term, I want to work as a gardener with a focus on sustainable food growing and mycology (mushrooms). My dream is to be a holistic healer using herbal medicine and plant-based nutrition. I want to be able to cultivate and facilitate green spaces for both my LGBTQIA+ and Latin American communities. Meanwhile, I'm hoping to get my security guard qualifications and find work as a door supervisor. As an extroverted person a role as door supervisor would be great as I am good at making people feel welcome. As someone who has worked behind the bar, I'm aware of how chaotic the spaces can be and how important it is to show care and kindness and establish firm and fair boundaries with people and I'd hope to bring this to my role in security. It feels so overwhelming and kind of unreal to be getting this kind of support, I'm grateful.
