Hello, I'm Chérif. I moved to the UK five years ago with the hope of a better life. I started off working in a restaurant, but the pay was low and I found myself bouncing between jobs. My housing situation was unstable, I had to move out after a breakup and found myself homeless. I've been sofa surfing and living in temporary places. It's been a challenge, not knowing where I'll sleep at night or how I'll afford food. But despite this, I've managed to keep my spirits up. I find joy in physical workouts, socialising and learning new skills.
I've always been a hard worker, having experience as a chef, waiter, and even a supervisor in marketing. I'm open to all opportunities, whether it's in the kitchen or an admin office job. I've even applied for a marketing course starting in September. But my unstable housing situation has been a major roadblock in my job search. I want to be active and productive, and I believe that stable housing and work are the main things in life. Without these, it's hard to accomplish anything or maintain a good routine.
Knowing that people want to support me in achieving my goals brings me immense relief. It makes me hopeful for the future and motivates me to do the same for others when I'm able. I'm excited to launch my Beam donations page and get one step closer to achieving my goals. In two years, I see myself with a stable job and home, maybe even starting a family. I can't wait for the day I can say that the worst is behind me, thanks to the kind hearts of people like you.
