I've been working in the construction industry for 10+ years. Before moving to London I was living and working in Manchester for a long time. I decided to move down to London as there were more work opportunities. What I did not know was the pandemic was about to hit and make things very difficult for me.
Thankfully, I managed to find an employer that provided workers with accommodation. Things were looking good until the job was unexpectedly delayed. Unfortunately, I lost my housing along with the job. The site was closed down and I could not even get access to my tools. This made it very hard for me to get back into work.
I was lucky to be connected with Ealing Council and supported into temporary accommodation where I currently live. Since being out of work my tickets have expired and need updating. If I can get some funding assistance to renew them and buy some basic tools, I will be able to get back into work.
