I was working in a well-known supermarket for 10+ years. I enjoyed the role at the start but things began to get tough for me both in my personal and professional life. The physical and mental demands of the role built up over a decade and it all came to a head. The pressure became too much for me and I had a breakdown. Unfortunately, I could no longer maintain my job and subsequently my rental payments. Unfortunately, things piled up and I ended up homeless.
Thankfully, the local council offered me some support for my mental health and I've worked my way to feel in a more positive place. My motivation levels have increased and I'm now ready to move back into employment. I want to start building a foundation for the future.
I've already completed my SIA training and want to move into security work. With Beam's support I can get the equipment and support I need to renew my license and start job hunting. I've always worked, so this period of being out of work is something that feels strange. It's not what I'm used to and I want to get to start moving in a forward direction with my life again.
