I was part of my families window cleaning business for most of my adult life. Until I found myself in an altercation and as a result, I ended up in prison. This was one of the biggest obstacles in my life. Everything about prison is a challenge. It impacts you mentally. I turned to alcohol as a result. This cycle took me a while to break but I managed to get through it.
I knew I wanted to make a change and I did. I was connected with the right people and I've been sober ever since. I know there is still work to do and I will keep working on this. One day at a time. Thankfully, due to the support of Havering Council, I am in temporary accommodation and bidding for permanent housing. This gives me a good platform to get settled and focus on work.
I’ve got qualifications in plumbing and want to use this to get into work. I like people and the problem-solving element involved in plumbing. The challenges presented to you every day in this role really excite me. In two years time, I want to be a qualified plumber and be able to support myself.
