Hello, I'm Darren. Life has been a bit of a rollercoaster for me. A few years ago, I went to Jamaica to care for my mum who was battling cancer. I had to leave my council house behind, and when I returned to the UK, I found myself without a home. I've been sofa surfing and sleeping rough since then. It's been tough, but I'm determined to turn things around.
I've done all sorts of jobs in the past, from driving to delivery jobs, even operating a forklift. I've got an expired forklift license that I'm keen to renew as this will open up lots of options for me. I'm also interested in roles that involve caring for ex-offenders. I believe I could make a real difference in their lives, having some experience with the criminal justice system myself. For the time being, I'm looking for something more stable in the long run.
What makes me happy? Humble people doing the right thing. I can't tell you how good it feels to know that there are people out there who care. In two years' time, I want to be living like a normal person, with a stable job and a home of my own. I know it's going to feel amazing when I achieve this goal with Beam.
