My dream right now is to get back to full health and be able to go back into work. Eventually I would love to buy my own house. I'm happiest when I'm with my three girls, sitting outdoors in the sunshine having a barbeque. My happiest ever memories will always be when they came into the world and when one of my daughters chose to live with me permanently after her mum and I split up.
My housing situation came about as a result of a number of things happening in quick succession. My 20 year marriage broke down last year. The council property I live in is in my ex-wife's name so they are evicting me for unlawful occupation. On top of that, I couldn’t go back to work because I was then diagnosed with mouth cancer. This has led to me having a major operation, which I am still recovering from.
It is a slow process, and I am still unable to eat solid foods, but my mobility is increasing and I am going in the right direction. My next step is to move myself and my daughter who lives with me into private rented accommodation. Knowing me and my daughter will have a secure place to live not having to worry so much about her future will be such a weight lifted off my shoulders.
It feels amazing to get this kind of support after what I have been through it makes me feel very grateful. I'm looking forward to being settled and getting back into work as an HGV driver. When I am able to, I will contribute towards helping someone change their life.
