What gets me up every morning is the feeling that I have purpose in life. I want to show my children that you can achieve your goals and that nothing can stop you from achieving what you really want to do. Both of them have been diagnosed with autism and I want to be a good role model.
My goal is to work in electrical testing and inspection with a focus on the charging of electric vehicles. That's where the future's at! I used to work in the construction industry, but had a serious accident on site, so I could no longer continue my career in that sector. I feel really ready now to return to the job market and am excited to retrain in a job that works for me. What I find particularly interesting about this career path is the responsibility that comes with it. I would be responsible for protecting premises from risk of fire or serious injury.
A key motivation for me to go back into work is to earn a stable income and move into a house of our own that my children can safely thrive in. Where we are currently living is an unsuitable environment for my two children given their additional needs. We have been fighting to improve the living situation and received a ruling from the Housing Ombudsman in our favour. However, our efforts have fallen on deaf ears so far and we feel trapped here.
I feel positive for the future and want to make sure my children are also ready to plan their futures and set their goals.
