What makes me happy is progressing and achieving my goals as well as being around good people. So I'm very excited to start the Level 3 Electrical Installations course and will give it my best! I am looking forward to meeting my colleagues, learning new skills and becoming a fully qualified electrician.
I moved out from home at a young age, as it was too crowded for me to stay there. I don’t think I was ready to live on my own back then and I struggled, since I had no help. I was working in a low-income job and ended up renting a place from a shady landlord. One day he kicked me out without warning and just kept my deposit. I ended up sofa-surfing with a friend for a bit, but eventually ended up on the streets for a few days until a homelessness hostel took me in. I have been in different hostels for over 2 years now. The hardest thing is that you have no stability and support is often hard to find.
Once I had a roof over my head though, things started looking brighter. A support worker with previous construction experience told me more about the sector. He believed that I would enjoy being an electrician and that pursuing this career would bring a positive change to my life. I took his advice and enrolled on a Level 2 Electrical Installations course. Completing this training opened up a huge door of opportunity for me!
Working towards fully qualifying now will help me to get on my feet and improve my financial situation. I will be able to support myself and afford to move into my own place. I am determined to do something positive with my life and as an electrician I will be able to help many other people.
