I moved to the UK from Eritrea in March 2021 to be with my husband, but we had a lot of problems so we ended up separating. I don't have any family here, but I have some friends. The separation was the biggest challenge for me - I had to move out, and I was at risk of being on the streets. Luckily I was moved into temporary accommodation.
I still feel stressed and anxious sometimes, and it can mean I don't sleep well. I'm losing my hair too. Recently I’ve found peace and solace in spirituality. I find it really relaxing and it calms me down. It feels great to have some sort of anchor in life.
I’m excited for Beam’s support to find work and become financially independent. It's always been a passion of mine to work as a carer, especially caring for older people. One day I’d love to open my own small business - maybe my own coffee shop!
