Unfortunately I’m currently going through an eviction with the council.
During the first lockdown I was working, however due to childcare expenses, I found it hard to balance work and taking care of my children. I was made redundant from my job and I felt into arrears, which I’m currently paying for from my Universal Credit.
I'm currently living in a small 1 bedroom flat with my son. I can’t move to a two bedroom property until I’ve cleared all of my rent arrears. It's also a house with lots of mould and poor conditions which isn't great for my asthma. Right now my family is split up because the house isn't safe for my daughter, so she's staying with her grandparents.
My dream is to become a social worker (or even start a podcast!) in the future and to be a voice on bringing changes to the child welfare system for the better. As a care leaver I think I'll be able to help others in similar situations.
In the meantime though, my priority is finding a stable job so I can fix my housing situation. I've got plenty of retail, customer service and hospitality experience and am looking forward to finding a role for myself. I also love cooking, I find it very relaxing and therapeutic.
