The things that make me happy are listening to music, dancing and cooking. I have a passion for them - they help me keep a positive attitude through life.
For me, everything changed in August 2016 when I experienced domestic violence in my marriage. I moved with my two children to a friend’s home in Lambeth. I had no recourse to public funds due to my status, but thankfully the Council assisted me to secure temporary accommodation. All I'm trying to do is get by with my kids, but living here makes me feel stressed every day. It has not been easy.
Walking out of an abusive marriage was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But it motivates me to apply for jobs as a carer or support worker, because I know I am a caring person. My dream is to one day become a nurse.
Joining Beam makes me feel incredibly supported, and like people care about me. I’m excited to start stable work, and once I do that I will be able to move into a new house where I can finally settle and feel at home again.
