Technology never stops developing and improving, so there is always more to learn. My dad was a computing teacher so I was brought up around technology which inspired my love for it. At GCSE and A-level my interest in the subject only grew and it quickly became my favourite. One day in the future I'm going to work in cyber security. This is the first step towards that!
I'm at risk of homelessness right now. Previously I was living full-time with my dad as his carer. For as long as I can recall he had always been in poor health and as time progressed his health only deteriorated. On Fathers Day last year he was finally admitted to hospital. After two difficult months my dad passed away and since he hadn't put my name on the housing forms the Council denied me the right to succeed him. Shortly after I received an eviction notice.
The unfortunate truth is that homelessness can happen to anyone at anytime. For me personally the most difficult thing about it has been losing my sense of security and not having any control over the situation. These feelings can take you to dark places but to get through it you need to remain positive; when you feel you've lost control over your life you need to remember you can still control your emotions and outlook.
Things started to improve when I was introduced to Beam by my housing officer at Greenwich Council. They reminded me not to give up on my future in the present and overall just gave me hope as well as something to look forward to.
In two years from now I hope my life looks more stable. Ideally I would be living in my own home without the fear of it being taken at any moment, in full-time employment in an IT job that I can give my all to. My relationships with my family will have improved so I can spend more of my free time with the people I love. And outside work I hope to be having adventures, exploring and enjoying the world.
