Hi everyone, I am super excited to start my journey on Beam!
Let me tell you about myself. I am a refugee from Eritrea. There, I spent 6 years helping others in need of medical support and helping provide life-saving first aid.
I arrived in the UK in March 2020 and have been trying to get settled since then. Most recently, I have been rough sleeping. Last month, I managed to access support and now I am temporarily staying in a hotel.
I have two children and a wife in either Sudan or Ethiopia. My dream one day is to locate them and bring them to the UK. My family are the most important thing in the world and being separated from them is very hard. My family is my current big big issue.
I miss them very much. I need to earn money and get a stable job in order to allow me to do this.
I see a lot of Traffic Marshall jobs and a lot of my Amharic-speaking community here in the UK are working in construction. I spent a lot of time studying to earn the qualifications to now start in construction.
As my English is still not fluent, the support of my Amharic-speaking community will help me settle into the role. My future dream is once I get a job, I will also start in the future study online a nursing-related course and restart a career as a nurse or carer.
In two years time, I hope more than anything to be reunited with my family. Being with my family is the most important priority for me and then starting an online course in nursing and being happy with a healthy professional career.
Having the support of Beam feels very good and it gives me a lot of hope for the future.
