In another five years, I see myself as financially independent - in a high paid, managerial position (ideally in HR). I've studied HR previously and worked in the sector, however, a lot of my educational and professional experience is abroad so it's been challenging to break back into this sector in the UK. Right now, it's important for me find stable work so that I can provide the best life for my two boys, so I'd like to go into an office or an admin role.
This year I made the hard decision to leave my husband and re-start a life that I have always envisioned for myself and my boys, which led to us becoming homeless. I was a victim of domestic violence and my husband would do this to me in front of the kids. Being a mother, your kids are your driving force. I've got a purpose in life now, so I'm determined to change our lives for the better. I want people to know that they can escape domestic violence and hopefully, sharing my journey will let others believe that there's light at the end of the tunnel.
As my ex-husband always controlled what I did, it's important for me to take charge in my job-hunt. I would like to do an admin role as I think the skills that I develop in this role will be of excellent value for me to eventually complete my CIPD Level 5 Diploma and then transition into a HR role in the future.
