Hi there, I'm Gabz. I've been living in supported housing since 2021, and it's been a real journey. I've been battling with depression and anxiety for the past few years, which has really knocked my confidence. I've also got arthritis in my legs and lower back, which has made it tough for me to find work. I used to work in hospitality and warehouse logistics, and I even did an apprenticeship at a joiners, but had to leave due to my physical health. I'm trying to manage my physical health with walks and physio, and I'm on medication for my arthritis and depression.
What makes me happy? Nature and animals. They bring me peace and comfort, something I've been seeking for a while now. My biggest challenge has been dealing with my mental and physical health issues. I'm working with Beam to build confidence, get back into work after a long medical leave, and move into more stable and permanent accommodation. It's strange to think that people out there want to support me to achieve my goals, but it's also a nice feeling. In two years' time, I hope to be financially stable and managing my health issues. I'm not sure what it will feel like when I achieve my goal with Beam, but I'm hoping for relief and peace. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
