Hello, I'm Gemma, a proud mum to two wonderful children. What makes me happiest is spending time with them, going on adventures and just being a mum. In my spare time, I love to make handmade, personalised gifts - it's a wonderful way to destress and learn new things. The transition from being a professional to a stay-at-home mum was a big one. I felt judged for being a young mum, and after a while, I missed the challenge of work. I wanted to improve my self-esteem and show that being a mum wasn't my whole identity.
My goal with Beam is to gain more knowledge and qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN). I've been fortunate to find work with a wonderful child who has multiple SEN conditions, and I want to support her development. To do this, I need to understand her conditions better, having a laptop will really help me with training and learning. Eventually, I'd love to go to university and train to be a midwife. I'm also looking forward to being in a more professional setting and meeting with members of a multidisciplinary team. I'll need a more professional wardrobe - it's been leggings and t-shirts for the last five years!
I must admit, I'm a bit nervous about asking for help. It's not something I'm used to, but I'm truly grateful for the support and belief in my goal. Every donation will bring me a step closer to achieving my dream. In two years time, I hope to either be working full time with children with SEN needs or be on my way to becoming a midwife. It's going to feel amazing when I achieve this goal, and I can't wait to share that joy with you. Thank you for believing in me and for your support.
