I'm quite a mentally strong person, but problems do keep coming. I'm very thoughtful, and I converted to Islam 6 years ago, so when I need to it really helps me to pray.
After Covid started, I lost my job and I was unable to pay my rent. I moved somewhere cheaper, but after I found I couldn't sustain that tenancy either, I was put in touch with the team at St Mungo's. I have been housed in a couple of hotels now, and I hope I will be on a list for social housing at some point in the future.
I've worked in the construction industry for a long time, and done a little bit of everything either for myself or for another company. I can do painting, brickwork, groundwork and I have my CSCS card. However, a few years ago, I had quite a big accident where I was electrocuted. Since the accident, I find it hard to do labouring roles full-time, as I get some pain in my arms and legs after a while. For now, I would like to do a telescopic forklift course, so I continue to work in the industry I've always known. This way I know I will be able to keep up with the work on a physical level so it's a great route for me right now.
