When I separated from my husband two years ago I was left with nothing. I had to leave my job to come back home to Southampton. I had nowhere to go so I ended up staying in my sister's garage. Shortly after I managed to find work, I met someone and fell pregnant. Unfortunately the relationship didn’t work out so I ended up moving into a private rented property by myself. I was later evicted as the landlord didn’t want any children in the property. When my daughter was born, I moved back in with my sister and we have been staying on her sofa ever since.
My divorce was the biggest obstacle I’ve ever had to overcome. It was a difficult period in my life but I am thankful for my daughter and the new light she has given me. I feel overwhelmed and grateful that complete strangers care enough to help someone they don’t know. Knowing that there are kind and selfless people in the world is truly uplifting and it gives me a lot of hope for mine and my daughter's future.
I know that I will feel pure relief when my daughter and I are finally settled, knowing that we finally have a place we can call home.
