I’m always happy when I see my son happy. He’s seven years old, and we live together in temporary accommodation provided by the Council. We haven’t been told how long we can stay here so it feels very unstable. It's my aim to to create a stable home for us.
I first became homeless just after my son was born. I was living with his father, who was abusive. I didn’t have settled status in the country at the time, so I couldn’t afford to find somewhere independently. Luckily I was able to receive support from the Homeless and Immigration Team, but life was difficult for me and my baby.
I’m currently studying a course that I will finish in one year’s time and I hope to find a job that will use my skills then, but in the meantime my goal is to become a carer. I’ve done this sort of work before and I think it’s really special that you can help make someone’s life more comfortable.
My dream for the future is to have my own house. It would be a dream come true. I want to be able to take care of my son, in our lovely home. I want to be a good role model for him.
