I had a successful career in Ukraine before the invasion happened and I had to relocate to the UK. Around 6 months ago, Beam got in touch with me. I'm so happy that I've already started to rebuild my career here (you can read my first story here: https://beam.org/campaigns/iryna-project-assistant), and I'm now looking to move into a stable home.
I've had to be strong for a long time. It's so hard - having to start again and again so many times. It feels like every moment of every day I've been thinking about a new job or a new home. It's difficult, because you're alone in a new, unfamiliar country.
I love studying and learning about the history and culture of London. I'm looking forward to finally feeling a sense of safety in my everyday life. I want to continue focusing on my professional goals and to start paying for and sustaining my own home.
I feel very grateful to the people wanting to help those in need - it's a truly great thing. When you give, you fill your heart. I like to think of it as a circular exchange of helping and supporting one another.
