I have such an interest in this kind of work! There's a lot to it. You don't just learn one thing but a whole lot of different treatments. And it's something that's not going to go out of business with technology. I'd love to be able to offer affordable beauty treatments to people who struggle with their image. That way, you can help someone to become happy and confident in themselves. For me, being around happy people makes me realise how great this world can be!
The most important people in my life are my family. I grew up in London with my mum and had always lived at home. Then I fell pregnant and found out I was having twins. There was just no space for us all. I went to the council and was placed in temporary accommodation more than an hour away. It was really scary to have two new babies without permanent housing or my support network nearby. Though things were tough, my family and friends were so important in getting me through.
Now, after seven years, the kids and I have finally been moved into our own place - which is amazing! Though I'm working, I'm struggling to cover the rent. The dream now is to get into work with a comfortable income so I don't have to worry anymore. Eventually I would love to be self-employed. I know that I've got to learn the trade first and get some experience in a business. It will be amazing to show my kids what I can do. If you focus and really want something and put your own stamp on it, you can do it.
