Family is important to everybody so my family is what makes me happiest. It was important for me that we are all able to live together - that is the main thing. My dream is to become a teacher in a few years. I am studying my PGCE and I love it because every day I am learning new things. From my experience as a mother, I love children and am looking forward to working in a job where I can help other children.
We have always lived in private rented accommodation, but our problems started when the Covid-19 pandemic hit. We had been served an eviction notice by our landlord because he wanted his property back so he could sell it. We were relying on my husband's income, but he works as a chef so in the pandemic he lost his job. We weren't able to find anywhere else affordable to rent because of or financial issues. We had to stay near my son's school because he has special educational needs and was about to start his GCSE years, but everywhere was too expensive for us. That was when we made a homeless application to the council and went on the bidding register.
We have been very fortunate and have been offered a council house. It has made me so happy to know we will have this house forever and the rent is affordable. However, the property has no white goods so we can't move in as we have no furniture of our own. Beam's support makes me so grateful because it means we will be able to get the essential furniture we need to live.
