I moved to the UK from Ukraine after the war broke out last year. Back home I worked as a pharmacist, but here I'm unemployed. I didn't speak English before moving here, so now I'm having to learn from scratch. It’s been hard. I’m studying English part-time to try and learn as much as I can, and to increase my chances of finding work.
I'm living with a host family at the moment, but I have to move out in the next three months. The council will support me to find a place. I’m trying to set up a new life for myself here. There are so many things to focus on all at once - like the new language, new culture, finding work and then finding a stable place to call home.
I want to find work in hospitality because I love meeting new people and working with customers. My dream is to one day go back home and be reunited with my daughter and my husband who are still in Ukraine.
