Training, boxing and keeping fit makes me happy. Doing those things give me mental strength too! I don't have the opportunity to box at the moment as I have to prioritise my housing situation and making sure that I have enough to eat each day. Getting into a job will give me the chance to do the things I love.
I became homeless when I couldn't find a permanent job that would pay enough to rent somewhere in London. I stayed with friends on and off but ended up sleeping rough for a while. Being on the street is difficult as you have to constantly think about where your next meal will come from. Keeping warm was hard too. Even clothes that you think would keep you warm, don't do the job when you're outside for so long. I used to use the Salvation Army day centre to wash and dry my clothes but if it was raining, I'd get wet straight away.
I've now been supported into a hostel by the Single Homeless Project. I'm thankful for the support I've received and I hope that I will be able to improve my situation even more by getting into work. It will allow me to rent my own place comfortably. I'd like to get my CSCS card so that I can work in construction but in the long term I'd love to work as a security guard. I like the idea of being able to help others go about their day.
