Since I was a younger I’ve always enjoyed building things. As soon as I had the opportunity, I completed my level 2 in electrics after I finished at school. I’m an energetic person who likes being hands on and busy so construction is a good fit for me.
My housing situation hasn’t been stable for a long time. I had a difficult home life throughout my childhood and entered the care system at a young age. It meant that I had trouble understanding certain things as they weren’t always consistent. Recently, I’ve been sofa surfing and staying with friends due to a breakdown in relationship between me and my family. Staying with friends wasn't a permanent solution so I was helped by the council, at first into a hostel and after that into a shared rented flat, where I am now. Life has taught me many lessons but despite everything that’s happened, I’ve always tried to look for the positives and be hopeful of things to come.
In two years time, I would like to feel more sustained. Doing some training in a related area will also increase my options so I'm pleased to add another skill set to my CV. I want to be in work and be able to support myself without help from benefits. Not having to worry about my rent and being able to afford the small luxuries that make me happy is important.
