Coming from supported housing is not easy and trying to find a place that accepts benefits is challenging! It was hard to work whilst in supported housing due to high rent costs. This has left me trying to sofa surf and work at the same time! This has affected my mental health, making it hard to sustain a job. I know that once I get into my new home I'll be able to focus on employment and my future.
I am really motivated, and I know my perseverance will pay off. I want to do better for my daughter. She is really smart and keeps me going! I can’t wait to have a stable home for her to be able to stay with me. In the future I would like to open my own business. I do drawings for ballerina dresses and ended up drawing designs for wedding dresses. I am also passionate about wildlife, particularly birds. I would love to open up bird houses, mostly for big buildings, to attract birds and bring birdsong into the cities. I think there should be more wildlife around for everyone to enjoy.
It feels really good Beam is able to support me through the beginning of the process to the end. Hopefully my campaign will help other people to see how many people Beam has helped to get out of bad situations by giving employment and housing support and advice. At least maybe somebody who’s similar to me will read this before they join Beam and have hope.
