I grew up in Italy, but have spent the last 20 years in London. I had an established career as an Engineer, a great flat in London, and shared my life with my long-term partner. Things were looking good for us!
Unfortunately though, my partner was diagnosed with cancer. I was his carer for years until he sadly passed away which was devastating. I was struggling to pay my rent, and support myself and so my landlord evicted me from our flat. I have been living in a shelter, and starting to rebuild my life, but I have realised that I may not be ready to go back into my high-pressure career as an Engineer.
Firstly I would like to get my green CSCS card and start a role as a labourer, and then I can keep myself occupied, and get some steady money coming in. One day I would like to get my driving licence, and become a mobile engineer where I can manage my own schedule, but I realise that whilst I am still adjusting to life without my partner, I need to take things one step at a time.
