Losing a parent is never easy. Unfortunately, I lost my father a few years ago and it was tough to deal with. I had the right to succession for our home, which meant I was able to stay in the property after with the support of the council.
While I have a roof over my head, keeping up with the rent has been challenging. I've mainly worked as a labourer in construction but the work is very inconsistent in my area if you do not own a car. This means my income is always not guaranteed. This makes it hard to plan for the future and has often created issues with my benefits. As a result, I've fallen into rental arrears during various stages of my tenancy.
With the support of Beam, I've looked into some other careers and found that security would be a good fit for me. This would allow me to complete some training and work my way up in a new career. The role would suit me as I could still be on my feet and keep active.
